There is a £3 charge to park Nice facilities cage, shop and unisex toilets. Had a cream tea experience with Fox and Edward’s. Train ride was 90 mins approx and first class was lovely. Food was good but was self service limited tables in first class area as laid out with comfy chairs and sofas. Ride itself boarding little to see in my experience of other stream train experiences. Enjoyed it but wouldn’t use that service again.
Heritage railway currently running a Hunslet Austerity class loco built in 1954. We had the cream tea, which was very good and included as much test as you like plus a piece of cake. The trip was a gentle run of 90 minutes in total passing mostly rural farming land and on to the Brush Falcon Works in Loughborough and return. Lovely helpful and amusing staff.
Very interesting transport museum mainly featuring heritage trains and buses, they also have a modell railway display and a minature railway you can ride which is popular with young children. There is a cafe and toilets on site. On my visit parking was £3 for the whole day. On operating days standard gauge trains run from Ruddington station. Near by there are country walks and a play area. Idea place for all ages and interests.
Fantastic place, so much to do all in one place. Friendly welcoming volunteers, full size train rides, miniature railways, model railways and vintage buses. Beautiful country park setting with walks and play areas. Family friendly prices
We went for an event during the easter holidays. We had a lovely ride on the train, which although short, it entertained our 5 year old grandson. Lovely play area for little ones, a cafe and book shop to look around on site. The only negative was the parking. We paid for parking in advance when we bought the ticket, yet the car park was full, as it is used as an overspill for the park next door, and as it was such a lovely day the park was very busy, their car park was full and people were parking on yellow lines on the approach to the park. The car park attendant was not very helpful and said "you should have come earlier, you've no chance of parking, we're full" Even though we could see a space !! We drove round and found a couple of spaces available next to the trains, which was handy. All other staff & volunteers were friendly and helpful.
