Lovely hike for families with small children. We went for a walk with our kids (13, 12, 8 and 6 year old) and enjoyed the forest, the history we read about on the signs and our sons took some of their Pokemon figures with them to make some 'real' photos. Afterwards a nice picknick.

We enjoyed a lovely walk here along the woodland path & boardwalk. There’s a lovely pond towards the bottom end of the park & then a lake as you walk along the perimeter of the country park back towards the car park. Every now & then are boards detailing the remnants of the gunpowder works & information about the wildlife in the park. We were there for around an hour walking slowly. Lots of people were walking dogs as shady & out of the sun in the woodland area. Several picnic benches around if you wanted to stop to have a drink & eat. The visitor centre was open as during the week we visited but says it’s opens weekends. The toilet was also locked. The car park is free & has a fair bit of parking. Signs up saying that the car park closes at 4pm.

A lovely little woodland walk with ponds, perfect for families. My 11 year old and 9 year old really enjoyed exploring it. We did a short loop that took around an hour at a relaxed pace, stopping along the way to look at different things. There is also a small car park with free parking, which makes it very convenient.

A wooded area with lakes and waterways which is on the site of an old Gunpowder works, hence the name. There are a number of partial buildings and structures remaining and each has an information board giving details of what happened there. There's quite a lot to see and more than one route within the park. The car park is free. There is a toilet for disabled users there but it requires a special key. There are a few benches near to the car park. There are no other facilities on site. Some walks are easier than others but this is explained on the large board near the car park. Dogs are permitted. Care should be taken with both children and dogs as there are many areas where there is water and parts of the park have old industry structures etc. It is a lovely place to take a walk.

We love it here, nice quiet walks. Disabled toilet. Small carpark that is free to park in. History boards to read. Ducks and swans to spot. Very shady. Benches for picnics. You will need Welly boots if visiting in the colder months. Lovely place to visit in all seasons and to see nature changing. Most paths are suitable for buggies and wheelchairs as we have bought both through ourselves.
