Great place for a quiet wander around a beautiful garden for free. Tea and scones in the cafe were delicious. Haven't been in the house yet but will be back.
Nice historical house set over three floors with Georgian period furniture, unfortunately all that is left of the original furniture is a table clock which was given back to NT by the purchaser at the house clearance sale. The gardens are free to enter and look around they are also extensive for a small property, with different areas with different plants. Small cafe and tables outside.
Our visit to Peckover House and Garden was made truly special thanks to Sandra. From the moment we arrived with our family visiting from America, she greeted us with such genuine warmth and enthusiasm that we instantly felt at home. Sandra went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, taking the time to chat with us, share little insights about the house and gardens, and ensure our experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Her friendliness and attentiveness made a lasting impression—especially for our American relatives, who couldn’t stop commenting on how kind and accommodating she was. The whole experience felt relaxed, personal, and memorable, and Sandra played a huge part in that. It’s rare to come across someone who brings so much heart to what they do. We left with wonderful memories and a real appreciation for the care and hospitality we received. Thank you, Sandra, for making our family day out so lovely—we’ll be talking about it for a long time!
One of the National Trust smaller properties but full of history and worth a venture. There is a car park on Chapel Road by the rugby club which offers free parking and is a short walk away. The house has three floors to explore, the volunteers are on hand to tell the story of the house and the families that lived there or there is a guide book available. The gardens are well kept and a nice peaceful spot to winder round. There is a tea room and toilets. There is also a museum across the river about Octavia Hill who helped establish the National Trust
My second visit (30+ years ago) and my husband's first. A really beautiful property and gardens, very well maintained. Not too big. Very knowledgeable guides on hand to answer questions. Only disappointment was that the tearoom wasn't open, but not too far to go into the town after. Would definitely recommend a visit.
