I have been member of the Penarth Leisure Centre for sometime now. I have been particularly frustrated about few things: 1.The staff on desk seams to not have a right knowledge about certain things as they gave me few, an absolutely different answers . 2. The booking system been down so many times, booked me twice for the same class or haven't acknowledged my scanned card at all. And what even more bizarre acknowledged me for one class but for the next one. 3. My membership payment didn't go through as I forgot to transfer money over the account, ok that's my mistake, however I approached staff as was willing to pay on desk the day after. But been told not to worry as the system will try take the payment again in 2 weeks time. Fair enough 👌. I left there. How disappointed I was trying to book class next morning and find out that I've been blocked from the booking system. But its not only that , over the phone I've also find out that I will be charged £20 ( which is more than a half of the monthly membership cost !!!!!!) just for that one day missing payment, which I was willing to pay the day after on the desk-and obviously no one even mentioned any of this to me on the desk or over the phone previously. However overall this is a nice leisure centre with friendly and highly knowledgeable and qualified instructors . I've met the amazing people .

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Penarth Leisure Centre has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. In late February, I attended the leisure centre in person to cancel my daughter's swimming membership. I spoke to a receptionist at the front desk, explained that I wished to cancel, and was assured that everything had been dealt with. I left believing the membership had been cancelled and that the matter was resolved. Two months later, I discovered that payments were still being taken from my account. After investigating, I was informed that the receptionist had removed my daughter from the swimming lesson but had failed to cancel the membership itself. I have since been told that the cancellation should never have been processed in the way it was and that the receptionist made a mistake. Mistakes happen. I understand that. What I cannot understand is how badly this situation has been handled since. The amount involved is approximately £45. Had somebody simply acknowledged the error and corrected it, this issue would have been resolved quickly. Instead, I have spent months chasing emails, making phone calls, repeating the same story over and over again and trying to recover money that should never have been taken from my account in the first place. What makes this even more frustrating is that I have effectively been left acting as the middleman between Penarth Leisure Centre and Parkwood Leisure. The error happened at Penarth Leisure Centre. The membership is administered by Parkwood Leisure. Yet rather than the two organisations speaking to one another and resolving a problem that was caused by their own processes, I have been bounced backwards and forwards between them. I am repeatedly told to contact one organisation, only to be directed back to the other. As the customer, I should not be expected to investigate what happened, gather evidence, relay messages between organisations or spend hours trying to prove that a member of staff made a mistake. That responsibility lies with the organisations involved, not with the customer. What I find particularly disappointing is that Penarth Leisure Centre appears unwilling to send a simple email to Parkwood Leisure confirming that an error was made at reception. Such a basic step could help resolve the issue quickly, yet I have been left to fight this battle myself. The receptionist's mistake took seconds to make. Correcting it has taken me months. At this point, the issue is no longer about £45. It is about accountability, customer service and respect for customers' time. I followed the correct process, attended the centre in person and requested the cancellation. The failure occurred within the organisation, not because of anything I did. Had the mistake been acknowledged and resolved promptly, I would not be writing this review. Instead, I have been left out of pocket, frustrated, and forced to spend far more time dealing with this issue than the value of the refund itself. Mistakes happen in every organisation. What matters is how those mistakes are handled. Unfortunately, my experience has been one of poor communication, a lack of ownership and an apparent unwillingness to take responsibility when things go wrong. I sincerely hope nobody else finds themselves in the same position.

We go in the middle of the day to swim with our granddaughter. Staff are lovely. Clean. Great sloping pool for little ones.
