Penllergare Valley Woods is a historic 100+ hectare Victorian estate situated just minutes from Junction 47 of the M4 near Swansea in South West Wales. Once the home of John Dillwyn Llewelyn, a renowned horticulturist, pioneering photographer, and astronomer, the estate now offers visitors a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance spanning over five hundred years of Welsh heritage. Visitors can enjoy seven miles of peaceful woodland walks throughout mixed woodland, discover two scenic lakes, and witness the spectacular waterfall on the River Llan as it meanders through the estate. The Penllergare Trust has spent two decades carefully restoring and conserving this family-oriented attraction, making it an ideal destination for all ages. The site features the Penllergare Visitor Centre (open daily until 4pm), Y Coed Coffee Shop for refreshments, and Y Siop gift shop. Additional attractions include Henry Hawk's Woodland Concert Trail and the historic Penllergare Observatory. Best of all, entry is completely free, though donations are welcome to support the ongoing restoration programme. The venue is dog-friendly and welcomes families with children of all ages.

What a little treasure! Magical place. Easy walking. All run on donations by volunteers - lovely staff and yummy coffee shop too! Parking monies also go towards the gardens, so just pay the full day, at a cheap £4. Could easily spend the whole day here but also nice for a quick stop. Good toilets.

Shaded parking. £3 for 3 hours or £4 all day. Toilets. Gates LOCKED at 17:00 so watch out!! Cafe. Walks but some are difficult if unsteady or you have a pram. Dogs welcomed. Lovely streams and ponds.

A big, peaceful country park with miles of trails, a lake, waterfalls and streams. Cafe and shop both very good with friendly staff. The paths on the big map in the car park are not marked on the actual paths in the park, which is frustrating. We asked for a map and this had different paths again, also not marked!

Parking fee is reasonable. £3 for 3 hours. It takes around 20 minutes to walk from the entrance to the far end of the forest, past the lake. There are ducks, robins, and other birds. There’s also a small waterfall.

Just kinda arrived then walked in following the map and trail. Pretty views even on a rainy day. The waterfall and ponds with ducks were a nice surprise. Would recommend for a light hike/walk.
