This place is stunning! The grounds are absolutely amazing and a wonder to behold and see in person. The historic house is equally amazing and staffed by very friendly guides. The artefacts and paintings and furniture etc etc are fascinating and there is lots to see and read and learn about. There's ample free parking, a nice place to eat (inside or outside) and a very nice gift shop. All of the staff in all areas are very friendly and helpful too.

What a find! This is a real hidden gem that we wished had more time to enjoy. Chock full of history inside the 'house' and plenty of beautiful garden to wander around. Great shop, plant sales and cafe on site too.

Thoroughly enjoyed wandering around the beautiful Grade I listed 11 acres formal walled gardens, dating back to the 14th century. Each wall garden is full of pleasant surprises, and very relaxing. Inside the historic house, the 14th century Baron’s hall is extraordinary, and well-preserved. It was easy to spend half or a day here, especially during the warm summer months.

An absolute gem. Both the castle and the gardens are in a great condition and are full of beautiful details. I was surprised that it wasn’t crowded at all, even though I was visiting on a weekend. It ended up being a very meditative experience. This place is well worth the visit, I’ll be recommending it to everyone as a perfect weekend trip for some history and aesthetics.
