A fascinating piece of engineering and an incredible achievement for its time. The views over the surrounding countryside and the river far below are absolutely breathtaking. Definitely not for anyone with a fear of heights! When you have to pass someone on the narrow walkway—or when a narrowboat glides past—you really appreciate just how narrow the aqueduct is and how high above the ground you are. There are also pleasant walking paths around the aqueduct, making it a great place to explore the area.

Loved this experience you do need a good head for heights though. Went across by boat with Anglo Welsh. Views are stunning and commentary/history from Ruben was clear, fun and interesting. Walked across afterwards & enjoyed the barges selling art, coffee etc. Would definitely return to go across by canoe and would highly recommend for a memorable day out.

This is a World Heritage Site and well worth a visit, particularly on a sunny day. 10 out of 10! Plenty of parking, £3.50 for the day. There's a nice pub and tearoom close by. An excellent day out.

Definitely worth a visit, if you are interested in architecture and engineering! There is ample space in the car park. Views from the bridge are fantastic! While we preferred to walk, we could see there are options to take boat ride or canoe yourself ! Staff in visitor center are friendly and provide detailed information! There are no tickets required to walk around. Toilets are near car park, and are usable.

Had a really nice afternoon at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct on a sunny day. The walk across is a bit scary at first (it’s high and fairly narrow), but once you get going it’s pretty relaxing, and the views over the river and countryside are brilliant. On a sunny day we met with a few people enjoying no the walk and everyone just seemed to be taking their time and enjoying it. There are some good walking paths around the area along the canal so we took a circular walk in the countryside. We finished off with lunch at the nearby The Corn Mill, which was great. Nice spot right by the river, good atmosphere, and the food was delicious. Perfect way to round off the afternoon. All in all, a really easy, enjoyable day out—definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area, especially when the weather’s on your side.
