Popes Meadow

Binfield, United Kingdom•4.5(236)•Country Park, Nature Reserve, Playground

Explore a tranquil 13.7-acre countryside park with wildlife ponds, woodland trails, and a toddler play area perfect for family outings.

Pope's Meadow is a peaceful countryside park located in Binfield, named after the famous 18th-century poet Alexander Pope who once lived in the nearby manor. Officially opened to the public in 1985, this 13.7-acre site offers families a quiet escape from urban surroundings with opportunities for nature exploration and outdoor recreation. The park features a diverse landscape including open meadows, woodland copses, and a wildlife pond that attracts frogs, toads, damselflies, and dragonflies. Visitors can enjoy a toddler play area, sports and kick-about zone, and a network of walking paths including the Bracknell Forest Ramblers Route. A surfaced path from the car park leads to the pond where a picnic bench provides a scenic spot for families to rest and observe wildlife. Wildlife enthusiasts of all ages will appreciate the park's rich biodiversity. The traditional hay meadow supports wildflowers and small mammals, while the copse woodland is home to native birds including chaffinch, blackbird, and robin. Shade-loving plants such as bluebells and wood sorrel thrive in the underscore, and the pond's aquatic plants create an engaging natural classroom for young learners. With its blend of accessible facilities, natural beauty, and historical significance, Pope's Meadow is ideal for families seeking peaceful outdoor time, nature spotting, and gentle walking among ancient trees and countryside habitats.

Small park with a nice short walk and a small duck pond which could do with some care... Looks pretty stagnant. But the whole park looks tidy and well kept other then that.

First visit, very pleasant short walk in wooded area around small lake ... Patches of bluebells (seen here through a fence into the area next to the meadow) ... And a play area for children means we'll probably visit again with grandchildren

Pope was right when he said' only fools go where angels fear to tread'... and the fools are those who have no respect for the exquisite wild bluebells that grow in this meadow. It was sad to see sections of the bluebells trodden over. Please keep to the paths to enjoy these protected wildflowers...Pope's meadow is dog-friendly and has a delightful play area for the little ones.

Low maintenance tall grass can't really find any reason to go there so car park would be pointless either. Note, Fake doors on the trees, they are pretty colourful but definitely fake.. Maybe trap🙈
