Beautiful garden and playground not far from poplar high street, it is well maintained. The surrounding buildings are beautiful, there is also a nice church. The playground is gated, the facilities are suitable for children from 1 to 12 I think. The big climbing frame in the middle of the playground is quite fun for kids above 5. The slide without handles, the long pole, are all very cool. There are a couple of benches for parents, a few picnic tables. The lawn outside of the playground seems to be well maintained, with the view of Canary Wharf, it is overall a great place for families.

This park is such a lovely place to go. There is space to run, walk, chill or play. My little one loved the playground.

Poplar Recreation Group, also known as Poplar Park, is a stunning green space cherished by both locals and visitors in the borough. Managed by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, this park is a delightful retreat for adults and children alike, as well as for those who work nearby. I have a deep affection for this park, which is adorned with numerous trees. Sitting on the benches allows you to immerse yourself in nature, watching birds soar and squirrels scurry about. It truly offers a sense of tranquility and a chance to connect with the environment. When you visit, you might also encounter new friends enjoying their strolls and savoring the moment. During the summer, the park buzzes with activity as people bask in the sunshine, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with colour. You might spot students from New City College engaging in lively conversations. The gentle rustle of the trees in the wind and the soft breeze contribute to a soothing ambiance, making it a memorable experience. The sound of the wind brings a sense of peace. Poplar Park also serves as a World War I memorial and features playgrounds, tennis, netball, and basketball courts, as well as a bowling green. You can enjoy a game of basketball or tennis, and there are slides and swings for children. Adjacent to the park is the beautiful Poplar Shahjalal Mosque, where the Muslim community gathers for prayer. The playground is fully inclusive, catering to children aged 5 to 18, while the bowling green and tennis courts require a fee to play. The park is also a favorite spot for elderly individuals who appreciate the opportunity for a leisurely walk, which is quite beneficial for them. Additionally, there is a lovely church nearby that adds to the park's charm. The Poplar Recreation Ground features a mural honoring 18 children who tragically lost their lives at Upper North Street School in Poplar on June 13, 1917, during World War I. This incident marked the first daylight bombing of London by fixed-wing aircraft. The park includes nameplates listing all the children. Additionally, the exterior wall along Hale Street showcases a mural that commemorates the Poplar Rates Rebellion of 1921, when 30 councillors were imprisoned for refusing to collect taxes that local residents could not afford. In 2021, the mural was restored to celebrate the centenary of their imprisonment, and a heritage panel detailing the events of 1921 has been installed near the Hale Street entrance. The park is easily accessible, with the nearest DLR station being All Saints, and bus routes 15, 115, and D6 providing convenient transport options. I urge the Tower Hamlets council to repair some damaged benches and clean those that have been misused by drinkers. Furthermore, I recommend that the council's horticultural team to prune the trees, as many branches are falling.

I visited this park today and had a really great experience. It’s a peaceful and clean place, perfect for relaxing or going on a walk. The natural beauty and greenery were refreshing, and the overall atmosphere felt very calm and welcoming. A great spot to spend some time with family or just enjoy a quiet moment alone. Definitely worth a visit!

Very nice park and recreational ground. This is probably the best park in the area which is home o a tennis court, Basketball and football cage, swings and slides, climbing apparatus, monument garden and green fields. The tennis court allows for two matches at once and seems well looked after. The basketball and football cages is large and is concrete. There are a number of swings including traditional swing sets and a tire swing next to a set of climbing courses for young to older children. The monument gardens features a monument dedicated to those lost in first world war and has really nice flower's and bench areas. It is a great place to visit with children and has quite relaxing views with benches. The park is usually well looked after. I would give Poplar Recreation Ground a 5 star rating due to its conveniet location in town, decent sized grounds and multiple entrances. 5 Stars 🌟.
