Lovely short peaceful walk about 40 mins, think I saw a jay bird but not sure! Parked in the housing estate as there is no official parking. This place could do with some geocaches 👀

Beautiful wood, the remnant of an ancient woodland. I was delighted walking here that there was a native understory in the main wood with no invasive laurel or rhododendron. Unfortunately I then noticed that the quarry area has been totally invaded and it’s spreading up to the edge of the cliff. I hope the local woodland trust can get some volunteers to clear this before this ancient native would becomes infested like so many others.

Nice hillside woods, just a couple of miles outside Derry. Circular walk takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Found a quiet spot in the woods near the housing estate entrance that had a tree swing to sit on.

Only a short drive from the centre of the city, this ancient woodland is a beautiful place for a lunchtime ramble or for a bit of mindfulness at anytime. Incredible natural beauty and just on our doorstep. A circuit will take about 30mins at a leisurely pace. Remember to orient yourself well or you could spend longer than planned. The stone steps and sculptures are wonderful too..
