If you need to escape the heatwave or just want to clear your head, Prospect Park is the perfect getaway. I drove my kids here last Saturday to catch some fresh air after experiencing spikes in my blood pressure earlier in the week. By the time I left, I recorded my best blood pressure reading yet. The vast green landscape completely cuts away the bustling and honking of city traffic, making you feel like you have escaped to the quiet countryside. Inside the park, there is plenty of parking space right at the front, and the entire area is incredibly well-maintained with bins located all around. The park features an impressive variety of installed play facilities for both kids and adults. Watching and helping the kids enjoy life to the fullest in such a calming environment completely erased my stress. While it was my first time visiting and I don't know much about the official security, the parents and carers there acted like one close-knit community, helping one another out. I used to think Reading didn't have good, calming places, but being here completely changed my mind. I cannot wait for my next visit!

Vast park with plenty of room to explore. The new playground is excellent for kids, and the regular boot sales are great for a cheap shop. It’s a lovely local spot, though it's worth staying vigilant as there can be some loitering around the park at times.

Sprawled across more than 100 acres, this place is a perfect blend of space, serenity, and smart planning. There’s ample car parking, and the layout includes thoughtfully designed activity zones for both children and adults. The 5K run held every Saturday adds a lively community vibe and is a great way to kick-start the weekend. While summers can get quite busy with families and events, the non-summer mornings are blissfully calm — ideal for peaceful walks or simply soaking in the tranquility. A beautifully maintained and well-organized space for recreation and relaxation.

The miniature train part is open on the first Sunday each month. My children loved it. The wise open park is perfect for play and picnics, whilst the play area at the top of the park is large and well maintained. If only we thought about it and packed the picnic........
