Watch hundreds of wild Red Kites feed daily at this spectacular Mid Wales wildlife centre, with viewing hides, photography workshops, and a cosy coffee shop.

Gigrin Farm Red Kite Feeding Centre is a world-renowned family attraction located in the heart of Mid Wales, overlooking the beautiful Wye and Elan Valleys near Rhayader. The centre's main attraction is its daily Red Kite feeding spectacle, where hundreds of wild Red Kites gather to feed once daily at 3pm (2pm from late October). This breathtaking natural display offers visitors an unforgettable wildlife experience. The venue caters to all types of visitors with multiple facilities and activities. General viewing hides are positioned just metres away from the feeding area, providing excellent vantage points for observation and photography. Specialist photographic hides are available for serious photographers and film-makers. The on-site Red Kite Centre includes a welcoming coffee shop serving refreshments, cakes, ice-creams and snacks, along with a gift shop, picnic areas, and a scenic farm walk. Gigrin Farm is particularly well-suited for families, schools groups, and coach parties. The venue welcomes children of all ages and is dog-friendly across most of the farm (dogs must be kept on short leads and are restricted from certain indoor areas). Booking ahead is recommended as numbers are limited daily to prevent overcrowding and ensure visitor comfort. Open from 12:30pm, the farm offers a peaceful countryside setting where visitors can relax while enjoying the majestically soaring Red Kites.

Brilliant place! Well laid out, easy to get too, very well looked, everyone was very friendly and informative. And the Red Kites appeared in huge numbers! A marvellous day, and definitely a place to visit again 😁. And to top it of, I bought a picture by Julie Mortimer ❤️ And the online booking was really quick and easy!

WHAT a fabulous experience! Def a day to remember. I highly recommend this as it’s breathtaking to see the red kites arrive when it’s feeding time. I absolutely loved it and def will come back. The shop is also worth a visit. For people with mobility issues there is a possibility to drive the car to the hide outs. The staff are very friendly and approachable.

We've visited the red kite feeding station twice so far and both were amazing experiences. It is clear that the farm values and priorities wildlife and that they respect and admire the kites who come from miles around for the supplementary food. The views from all of the hides are brilliant and as an amateur photographer I particularly loved gateway hide and tower hide (attached photos taken from tower hide with an RF 100-400 lens).

I came here as a child and remembered it being amazing so booked to go with my boyfriend. We went about a year ago but just getting round to leaving a review now. It’s a great place to see hundreds of red kites being fed. Tickets were not too much and it’s a great experience that you don’t get everyday. They feed the birds mountains of raw beef I think it is and there’s kites fly in right over your heads. You will not be dissatisfied if you book to go here.

All I can say is WOOOOOOOW. It was such an incredible place. They are such beautiful birds and they get really close to you. We were in the open space rather than the hides but still had a fantastic view. We also had coffee and cake 🎂 and ambled around the nature walk. It was a bit muddy but not as bad as I thought after the rain we had the few days before. I would absolutely 💯 recommend it to anyone who is interested in these birds.
