Visit websiteView menuCompletely unsure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. We really enjoyed the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers Museum. One of the best laid out museums of it's type. Very interesting exhibits, with lots for adults, kids and big kids to see an do. We met and chatted to a very friendly and funny ex-REME serviceman which was the highlight of our visit.
Fantastic wartime weekend at the museum, we were made to feel very welcome and the museum was very interesting. The cafe is excellent too with a great choice of home cooked, reasonably priced delicious food. Thank you for putting on such a great event.
Great visit to this museum. Lots to see and do. Vehicles are amazing and I especially loved the helicopter hanging from the ceiling. Lovely staff and volunteers with a wealth of knowledge. Very spacious, great cafe serving fresh food hot and cold.
Fantastic museum very friendly staff, lots of great exhibits. Interesting vehicles very well displayed lots of information to go with the exhibitions. Good selection of food in the Crown cafe. Clean toilets.
An interesting place to visit, as an engineer I may be biased but I think its got a fairly broad appeal given the stuff in there. Firstly you've got a host of interesting vehicles you don't see everyday. There's plenty of information about what the REME do and how, and how they fit into the army overall. (At times they make it sound so good you can't help but think 'Are you trying to drum up recruits here?' but again 'personal bias', I do think engineering's great, so maybe it might not seem that way to others.) They've also got a room full of exhibits to test your practical skills, which are great fun, and dotted around are some stands where you pick up an earpiece to listen to info. What I learned about one german automobile from one was a real suprise. (You'll have to visit to find out.) It's a niche museum, but I liked it.
