Topiary Avenue remarkable-still in reasonable shape. Beyond that derelict and vandalised. Lovely Sundial, sorry I can't read Latin (see the Friends trail guide!). My second visit, in early May, revealed the small arboreta planted in the lawns. Some fine specimens of Leylandii, Monkey Puzzle and Cedar, on the Croquet Lawn and opposite, I found newer, Liquidamber, Pearsian Ironwood, Nothofagus and Moosewood. The Friends trail map was very useful in getting some historical background on the architectural relics. Some of which may not be restored for the forseeable future. (eg.The entrance to the quarry is gated off but there is a massive gap in the sandstone retaining wall). The hidden garden also had some exotic trees but the flower beds remained to be filled up-and high summer should be its best time. A fine place for reflection. An intriguing site.

This is a great place to explore. You can see the footprint of the garden and estate of the old house. The walled garden is clearly a labour of love, well maintained, full of variety and colour, and a delight for Dahlia lovers. The yew garden is quite special.

Interesting and different public park, numerous signs can be seen that it was once part of a significant garden. The walled garden in late summer is great with seriously good dahlia beds. Also very good rose beds.

Amazing place to visit with pets or even for a stroll. There's large variety of plants for great pictures and even a great village to visit nearby.
