Roman Alcester Heritage Centre is a free-entry museum housed at Globe House in Alcester, dedicated to interpreting and displaying objects from the town's rich Roman past. The museum features an extensive collection including pottery, coins, jewellery, archaeological finds and interactive exhibits that bring Roman Britain to life for visitors of all ages. Alcester is one of the most investigated Roman small towns in the country, with over 100 archaeological digs conducted over the last 80 years. The museum showcases discoveries from these excavations, including the renowned Alcester Samian Ware collection, and provides detailed information about daily life in the Roman period between the 1st and 4th centuries AD. Interactive QR codes on many artefacts allow visitors to explore additional details via smartphone. The museum is particularly well-suited for families and school groups, offering hands-on activities and the opportunity to handle pottery and other artefacts. Great little museum in a lovely town. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great for kids on a rainy day as it is part of the local library.

A perfect little museum covering the Roman period of history in this gorgeous town. A volunteer is on hand to share their enthusiasm and knowledge. Some of the coins discovered and on display are in excellent condition. Activity tasks for children help engage all ages.

Very interesting to see the artifacts in the Roman museum here in the Alcester library. It's free entry and has a very knowledgeable and friendly volunteer on hand to answer any questions you might have. It never ceases to amaze me how the Romans first conquered, and then brought their culture and society to such a vast area of Europe over 2000 years ago.

Interesting if you are into roman as I am.Only small room but has a lot of different displays.Good.

A little bit smaller than I expected ( one room ) but full of interesting artifacts and information on the roman era. Dog are not allowed, I only add this information as i couldn't find if they where allowed on the internet anywhere and took my dog with me. Super friendly staff a must for any history fans.
