It never ceases to amaze me the people they have working in these museum's the guides who are so knowledgeable of the history and have all the granular info that fills the cracks of the bigger story. This visit was more than we could have hoped for. The entry cost stung a bit... almost 100£ but what we got out it, you cant put a price on. Go, enjoy and I encourage you to talk to the local guides, ask questions and you'll get so much more and will walk away, as we did with a great appreciation of the seafarers life.

Amazing opportunity to get inside real military submarines - from HMS Holland 1 to HMS Alliance. The museum part was also very interesting, covering early submarine history and up to the Cold War era. Recommended for anyone who is interested in the navy, submarines, or big machines!

We had previously purchased our tickets back in September, and with them valid for a year - and finding ourselves in the area, we decided to go and do the submarine! As its May half term the water taxi / boat was running so we went via that route to get there. Upon disembarking the boat we went and got our tickets scanned, and was given a timed entry for the submarine itself. In the mean time (while waiting for our alloted time) we looked round some of the exhibits / galleries. With two small children we went through the galleries and exhibits fairly quickly - in all honesty they just wamted to go on / in the submarine!! The submarine itself is one way, you head in the front and exit at the rear. It was really interesting to see what life may have been like for all the crew. The kids got to try out the periscope and it was quite the experience to think how all the crew would have got on in such a small area! We was probably there for about an hour in total, slightly dictated by the water taxi timings! Well worth visiting if you have the dockyard pass!

Visited twice in the last few years. Well maintained and fun to visit, good for both kids and adults to learn about submarine and the guides were great with sharing knowledge and assisting the visitors. The Cafe and washrooms are clean as well with friendly staffs.

Excellent exprience and very good value for money as it is included in the ticket price for the Portsmouth historic dockyard tour. Very good historical references and well planned out. The staff we met were friendly and knowledgable.
