Really interesting to find out about this branch of the forces. Though a smaller museum, it packs in a lot. There are quite a lot of interactive bits for younger visitors, but not really meant for those under 7, in my opinion. My dad (in his 80s) particularly enjoyed the visit, buying lots of memorabilia in the shop. The staff were very friendly, funny and helpful. Shout out to Lyn who was especially kind and patient with my dad. We split visit over 2 days, so dad would have energy to do all he wanted at the museum, which was a good call. Paying on first day gave us free entry for a year, so 2nd day was free! Friday was quieter than the Saturday.
This appeals to so may people, military fans, techies, historians. An excellent museum. The opening video is 40 minutes and we watched the whole thing. If it's on YouTube, it would be worth finding and watching before you go. Bear in mind, this is inside a military camp so you will need photo ID to be admitted. Even that process is part of the experience. Fascinating!
Very easy to access (via camp) the MPGS in the guard room are very helpful! Museum was unsuspectingly good with loads of amazing displays and information. If you gift aid your ticket, you can visit for free for a whole year!!
So informative and friendly - we loved our visit. Nice touch offering help-yourself tea, coffee and biscuits from the trolley after the cafe had shut!
Excellent place and highly recommend a visit if communication, history etc interests you. You will need to park just outside the camp entrance and go in to present ID etc, if you are disabled display the badge and you can park closer. The museum is closed to the entrance, go straight there, lots of parking as well as disabled spaces. Entrance fee is very reasonable and the gift shop well stocked. There is a lift between the floors, there is a cafe that serves a great selection of food and freshly prepared if required. The exhibition is very well laid out and a good history. A very good layout in groups of the actual equipment which in itself is quite rare. I was quite surprised to see a Tele D Mark V set which I have. There are a number of excellent video history or explanation shows and have seats. There are also a number of interactive exhibits so you can check your knowledge on points of hacking to light up model of Pegasus bridge. All the staff were extremely polite and helpful
