Coombes Valley is a wonderful woodland nature reserve located in Bradnop, Staffordshire, perfect for families and nature enthusiasts seeking outdoor exploration and discovery. The reserve features towering oaks hidden within a steep-sided valley, with grasslands teeming with wildlife and an information centre to enhance your visit. Visitors can expect excellent birdwatching opportunities throughout the year. In spring and early summer, migrating Flycatchers and Redstarts arrive to breed, while winter brings Redwings, Fieldfares, and winter finches. Nice welcome at the entrance booth where you buy ice cream , soft drinks and biscuits. Routes were explained to us well and were the sightings for that day so far. Toilets clean and picnic / seating area tidy. As previous reviews have mentioned, the main routes can be hilly in places so not for the frail walkers. There is a child and more elderly friendly shorter route also. The best sightings were near the brook bridge crossing and the disused cottage nearby. The rope bridges are fun too.

Visited first time last wednesday 6th May 2026, well worth the few pound I paid to park. i had to download the app so as to pay £3 then I met the owner and he said i can stay as long as I like. Went for a walk and loved seeing the wildlife and exploring the paths. Will return again soon to do more walks. I got to see squirrels and even little mice / shrews :)

I've been visiting this place for a long time. Always been a nice spot. I take the kids now and they love it. Lots of little Woodland tracks to explore and Wildlife everywhere. I hope they find the funding to repair the skywalk and the bridge. Well worth visiting, its usually very quiet too.

A beautiful, spectacular woodland, we thoroughly enjoyed our walk around here. The temptation is to keep walking, but it's so worth while stopping and spending time looking at the nature in front of you, listening out for all the birds, seeing if you can glimpse them.

On a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon Coombes valley is a beautiful place to relax. Woodland trails take you up and down the valley, there are plenty of benches to rest as you explore and discover wooden castles, nature musical instruments, bridges across a gentle river. The visitor centre has toilets which open until late. Parking is £4 which can be paid in the visitor centre, when open, by phone or in the honesty box. Watch out for the cockerel, he's aggressive. We didn't see him. For us, one of the bridges was closed on our return leg so we were sent on a diversion that took us up a hillside and then back down taking us a long way out of our way and then back the way we came. The signage was not very good but hopefully this won't be the case when you go! We will go back as there's a lot more exploring to do. Well worth a visit.
