The reserve is dog-friendly (dogs must be kept on leads on public roads and footpaths, though not permitted at Powderham Marshes), offers free entry, and welcomes families with children of all ages. Gorgeous little hidden gem just outside of the city. Great for trainspotters, as you’re right by the tracks for a good portion of the walk. There’s also a hotel/pub called The Turf on the way that’s right by the water and the views are excellent. Admittedly easier to get to by car, but still walkable. Definitely adding this to my list of favourite walking spots!

The Exe is a fabulous place for birds on the estuary particularly in Winter.Accesible by tracks all round for bikes,walkers and bird watchers Exminster Marshes are wonderful for the variety of habitats and the car parking is good.

Good dog walk off the lead to Turf hotel. Free car park just over the railway line by Swans nest pub. Adventure wildlife area half way with picnic tables. Just before Turf there is a field which might have friendly cows. Walk one way is 30 minutes max
