Beautiful large bird reserve with plenty of trails to follow and plenty to see in any season. I went in May, with my nature group, to see damselflies and dragonflies. Relaxing for a couple of hours walking. It is accessible via the guided busway. The carpark costs £4 (2026) and is paid via the paybyphone app/website, requiring login. This is not easy in a location which has very limited signal and is the only drawback.

It was the first time I had visited this site, and was very impressed. There are three main visitor trails, a seasonal trail, plus public footpaths and bridleways. There is good parking, and toilet facilities. I thoroughly enjoyed my walk around, and intend to visit again soon.

Lovely nature reserve. Free, except to park. One road that sat nav will take you down is not particularly signposted and is very very bumpy, be warned! Access road on other side is much more navigable. There are picnic tables and a single portaloo by the car park. One of the trails on the map/downloaded map is not where it's marked at the reserve, where it goes into woods but not by the lake. Beautiful area for a walk and sure to see some interesting fauna and flora.

Visited for a couple of hours on a warm May Bank Holiday. Stunning views of the extensive lakes punctuate beautiful walks through nature. Paths seemed well kept and there are a few picnic tables scattered around to stop for lunch or have a break. Did not appear to be very busy for a holiday so was able to enjoy many of the views undisturbed. The area is extensive enough that it would take several visits to explore it all. Will definitely go back to see how it changes with the seasons and find all the different routes. Very convenient that it is accessible by bus from the city centre. Be prepared to be assaulted by flies if you go near the water!
