Very enjoyable ride along the 1.5 mile long narrow gauge track, mainly alongside Rudyard Lake. There are several steam engines which are all lovingly maintained by the friendly staff. There is an attractive station with a bridge over the track to a small shop and cafe. A lovely day out.
Great place for a family day out. Not much for young kids, but the railways fun, and the views are amazing. Plenty to see and do here. Free parking, we enjoyed it, very reasonable prices for tickets on the railway aswell.
The miniature railway is an enjoyable way to view the lake especially if you're unable to walk far, have young children or are unsteady on uneven terrain. Alternately you might just enjoy the novelty ride. The train stops for 5 minutes to allow passengers to leave the carriages, stretch legs and admire the view before the return journey to the station where snacks and drinks can be purchased. The whole journey lasts about 40 minutes, trains leave on the hour until 4pm I didn't pay but I believe it was in the region of approximately £25.00 for 4 adults and 2 young children. Unfortunately the fumes from the train drift into the carriages along the way, still, it was a lovely experience. Thank you.
