Parking £8.00for3hours or£18.00 for the whole day lovely clean lake with a beach restaurant toilets all the amenities that you need and a splash park for the children. Lovely walks and a train that starts at 12. :00 and if you've got a lot of stuff with you, it's an easy way of getting back to the car. There's also a restaurant near the car park as well. Two two car parks. One to the left is for the restaurant which you will need to add your number plate. If you're eating there. Otherwise you will be fine and the car parts are the right is for the lido. I found the best way to get in to the lido is walk past the restaurant on the main road and then you'll come to like a gate. Go through there and follow it all the way along the restaurant
It's a mix review. It's a lake and a lovely park with pubs, food etc. There is a bus stop near the beach that goes to Ruislip station. It has a mini train attraction which was £3.50 one way or £5 for return. I think it was a good experience and I enjoyed it. Ok so now here is that fact that every YouTube or Instagram video doesn't show. 1) Sand - It has a good portion of sandy beach but it is a artificial beach as they dumped a lot of sand to create that beach (as far as I know). You will notice or see the dark mud oozing out near the water or if u dig deep. Despite that a lot of people were enjoying the experience. 2) Bus - Car park- Buses were packed and it was horrible to get in because there were too many people. Also don't go there on bank holiday or school holidays. It's so busy and I don't know if there would be any space for parking. 3) Beach vibe- despite having a sandy beach and attraction it doesn't give a beach vibe as u would get from real beach.
Ruislip lido beach is an artificial sandy beach on a 60-acre reservoir in North West London, offering a "seaside" experience within the city. While the beach is a popular spot for sunbathing and building sandcastles, swimming and paddling are strictly prohibited due to health and safety risks, including toxic blue-green algae, unpredictable depths, and cold water shock. Key Visitor Information * Opening Hours: The beach and grounds are generally open daily from 09:00 to 18:00, though seasonal variations can extend hours until 21:00 in the summer (May–August). * Admission: Entry to the Lido and beach is free. * Swimming Alternative: While you can't enter the lake, there is a Splash Pad (water play area) located on the beach that is free for children to use during warmer months. ## Top Activities & Features * Ruislip Lido Railway: Ride on Britain’s longest 12-inch gauge miniature railway that runs through the surrounding woods and around the lake. * Play Areas: A large pirate ship climbing frame is located directly on the sand for children. * Woodland Walks: The Lido is set within the 726-acre , featuring extensive trails like the Planets Walk. * Dining: The Water's Edge pub offers a carvery and views of the lake, and there are smaller kiosks like the San Remo cafe for snacks and ice cream. [4, 5, 8, 9, 10] ## Location & Transport * Address: Reservoir Road, Ruislip, HA4 7TY. * Public Transport: Take the Metropolitan or Piccadilly line to Ruislip Station, then board the H13 bus which drops you directly at the Lido entrance. * Parking: There are two main pay-and-display car parks. * Willow Lawn Car Park: Reserved specifically for holders. * Main Car Park: Open to all visitors but fills up very quickly on sunny weekends. * Note: Parking is strictly enforced and illegally parked cars are frequently towed.
Ruislip Lido Beach was a lovely place to visit, especially for families with children. It was quite busy when I went, but even with a lot of people around, it still had a nice and enjoyable atmosphere. The beach area is great for kids, as they have space to play, run around, and enjoy themselves outdoors. It is a good spot for a family day out, especially in pleasant weather. What I liked most was that it gives a little holiday feeling without having to travel far. The open space, sandy area, and surrounding nature make it a relaxing place to spend time. Even though it was crowded, it still felt cheerful and lively rather than stressful. Children seemed to be having a great time, and it is easy to see why families enjoy coming here. Overall, Ruislip Lido Beach is a very nice local place to visit if you want a simple and fun outing with kids. It can get busy, so it is better to be prepared for that, but the atmosphere and family-friendly setting make it worth visiting. A lovely place to enjoy some fresh air, scenic surroundings, and quality time outdoors.
I visited Ruislip Lido during Easter, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The place is beautifully maintained, very clean, and perfect for a relaxing day out with family. The highlight for us was the little train ride—it was absolutely fantastic and added so much fun to the visit. The surroundings are peaceful, with lovely views and plenty of space to enjoy nature. We had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a pleasant and enjoyable day outdoors!
