Very nice little centre tucked into the side of the road. Is home to an amazing miniature model of all of Rye, very cool! There is also an old-fashioned arcade which is quite fun. Would recommend 👍

Really cool place to spend half an hour — a small museum of Rye’s history. We didn’t do the show, and the rest is free to explore. Psst… don’t miss the smugglers room.

I visited Rye Heritage Centre and came away genuinely impressed. What looks modest from the outside opens into an attraction that is exceptionally rich in character, and The Story of Rye is presented with real imagination; the town model, sound, lighting, and storytelling work together brilliantly to make Rye’s history feel vivid rather than static. I also appreciated that the centre is clearly continuing to develop rather than relying on the same formula year after year, with newer projection-mapped experiences such as WWII: Rye’s Story, the continued popularity of Rye After Dark, and 2026 marking the 50th anniversary of the Rye Town Model itself. The Old Pier Penny Arcade adds another layer of charm, and the whole place feels thoughtfully curated, distinctive, and well worth visiting for anyone who wants to understand Rye properly rather than simply walk through it. For me, it was one of the most memorable parts of the town, and I would very happily recommend it as a five-star stop.

I visited here in June 2025. This is one of the local museums in Rye. This is a small local museum that includes a large detailed scale model of the town.

Fabulous Heritage Centre. Displays, old fsdhooned penny machine arcade and an interactive film show about smugglers. But the best bit, for us, was the miniture model of Rye. It was built by a couple in there retirement years. You take a seat and after a short introduction by a lovely gentleman, you watch a film, accompanied by lighting and special effects. Very interesting and an incredible model to say the couple built it in their living room. I won't say any more, just make sure you visit when next in Rye. We bought a ticket on entry and waited about 5 minutes for the show to start.
