An interesting visit to the Sandford Railway Station Museum earlier today, I really enjoyed it, definitely worth visiting this Summer! 🤔 🚂 👍

Took a visit to Sandford Station Railway Heritage Centre and Museum today, and what a lovely place it is! The beautiful retirement complex has been thoughtfully built around the old railway station, preserving so much of its original charm and history. The volunteers who look after the station and museum were absolutely wonderful — so friendly, welcoming, and passionate about sharing the history of the building and railway. Sadly, many old stations like this end up being bulldozed and lost forever, but this one has been beautifully restored with some lovely period memorabilia that really helps bring the past back to life. One thing that I think would make the experience even more special would be to have the old fireplace lit, as many heritage railways do, such as the Severn Valley Railway. It would add even more to the feeling of stepping back in time. After exploring the museum, we visited the old railway workshop, which has now been turned into a restaurant — and wow, what lovely people work there! From the staff on the tills, to the cooks and waiting staff, everyone was polite, smartly presented, and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a hot pork bap with gravy, stuffing, and apple sauce, along with a beautiful large hot sausage roll, all served with a pot of tea and green tea. Everything was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend everyone to take a trip here and experience it for yourselves. A wonderful day out with lovely people, fantastic food, and a beautiful piece of railway history preserved for future generations. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 STAR RECOMMENDATION! Kind regards,Dale Abnett

Open from for the 2026 season from now until Sunday 1st November 2026 Open from 11 am to 4 pm weekends and bank holidays Used the bus (only available on Saturdays) On the strawberry line cycle route from Yatton to Cheddar - so you can walk and cycle and there is a cafe near by Volunteers are really helpful and there are videos on in the carriages No need to book just turn up

Lovely place to stop if cycling / walking down the Strawberry Line. There is a cafe run by very friendly volunteers serving hot drinks, snacks and ice cream. The coffee cake was pretty good! The seats are carriages that form part of the train in the station. There is also an interesting display in the old Grade 2 listed station building. Definitely worth a stop if passing through to assist with contributions to keep this excellent station in use.

We really loved this place (2 adults, grandparents, 2 kids aged 7 and 5). The volunteers were lovely to the kids and us. Got a toy track out for them to build and play with! Chatted to us and spent time being friendly and helpful. Lovely hot drinks and cake :-) Very informal and relaxed atmosphere. Lots of great memorabilia and factual info for train enthusiasts! Would definitely return!
