Our group (BASE, Blind Activities Support and Events) had a brilliant time at the Museum. Everything was geared up to welcome us. We had a trip on the accessible vintage bus around the site finding out about the background and history of the area. Eddie is in charge and our "tour guide" taking us to the busy workshop and describing the amazing ongoing renovations. We wandered around the Museum hearing the amazing stories of each vehicle. The place is crammed with buses and brought back a lot of memories of long ago trips. Eddie's experience and enthusiasm made this an excellent fun and learning day. The cafe provided a tasty lunch. The staff and volunteers were so welcoming and helpful.

A little out of the way but this 42 acre site is a treasure trove of vintage buses and is also home to the Lathlamond Railway Museum. Plenty of parking available and there is an internal bus service using the collection (a Daimler Fleetline and Hong Kong Leyland Victory on the day I visited). Entry fee includes a trip on one of the guided tours of the site taking in the maintenance workshops where you can see what goes into bus restoration. Volunteers are friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. Plenty to keep children entertained with rides on the buses plus standard and narrow gauge railways (additional charges). There is a small café in the exhibition hall which is very reasonably priced and you won't go hungry. If you don't have your own transport you can travel on the special service from Dunfermline provided by the museum using their low floor bus. This runs once in each direction (from Dunfermline bus station to arrive just after opening and returning to Dunfermline a few hours later).

Amazing collection, lovely people. The buses themselves are fascinating pieces of machinery but also a treasure trove of vintage models and office equipment and supplies. Fans of graphic design, logos and fonts will also find lots of historic examples.
