Took my 3-year-old son here today and we had a fantastic time. The little steam train ride was the highlight of the day and was a real hit with him. The first ride is full price and any additional rides are half price, which makes it great value if your little ones want to go again. A nice feature is that you can get off the train at the far end while it turns around and enjoy a picnic before catching it back. There are plenty of picnic benches dotted around and the scenery is absolutely beautiful, making it a lovely place to relax for a few hours. There’s also a bouncy castle, a playground, and a small shop selling toys, ice cream, and drinks, so there’s plenty to keep children entertained between train rides. The volunteers and staff were friendly and helped create a welcoming atmosphere. Top tip: bring a picnic and allow plenty of time to explore the woodland surroundings rather than just riding the train. It’s a wonderful family day out, especially for younger children and anyone who loves steam railways. We’ll definitely be back!

I know Sherwood forest quite well but didn't know about this place. It's a lovely little railway with lots to do for families with small children and even bigger kids like me. The staff are very welcoming and they are currently extending the track and hopefully in the future will have two trains running at the same time. They also do a train driving experience

Lovely place, shame the train doesn't go all the way around!! Some food during the weekdays would be good and our nephew loved the play zone and bouncy castle!! Staff were friendly and welcoming

The most wonderful day, my partner bought me a steam train driving experience for my birthday. I highly recommend it, we were super lucky with the weather too. Got over an hour of driving the beautiful steamer Smokey Joe up and down the route, Pete the instructor was amazing, so knowledgeable, talked me through everything and I got to drive it myself for a good stretch (under his supervision) which was so cool! My camera man partner and dog got front row seats. Cant recommend enough. Great family day out too!

Great fun for a couple of hours. The miniature railway is set about 10 mins drive from Sherwood Pines forest so made a great stop off to extend our day out before some bike riding. There is ample free parking, portacabin style toilets that were very clean, a hot food and drink trailer and various toys and climbing frames for the kids up to about age 8 or 9. There is also a free bouncy castle. We didn't have anything to eat, but noticed the price of the food is average for this type of venue, and when you consider that entry is free, all the park areas are free, and the train ride only cost £4 per child and £5 per adult, we agree that its great value for money. The train ride itself was about as long as we expected, but due to the scene in which it is built, would really benefit from being longer, as it's such a beautiful area. The cost to build, run and maintain such a track must be high so wishing it was a longer train ride isn't a criticism, just a hope for a future visit. The staff were lovely and our kids had a fantastic time there. Will definitely go again when it's the summer.
