This place is truly educational . Lots for kids to do . Lots of machinery to impress the guys . Lots about the suffragette organization for us ladies which the clarks family women were heavily in. Lots of human rights activists involvement hear that I never knew about before. But for me it was a pilgrimage of thanks to the shoe makers who saved my feet from being ripped to sheds . Their tuff lace up school shoes were on my feet when I was hit by a lorry coming home from school at 6 years old. The driver had no idea and dragged me a quarter of a mile under the lorry where my clothing had caught . A red traffic light saved my life . These shoes were ripped to pieces not my feet . Thank you clarks family for saving me from a lifetime in a wheel chair.

Well presented information in a handsome and new purpose-built museum building. A variety of pictures, artefacts, and videos. Brought back some memories of Clarks shoes. History of the development of the firm and the village was fascinating.

Small museum packed with interesting exhibits and lots of information. The museum is just the right size to learn about the Clark family and the shoe making industry whilst taking a half or whole day trip to the Clarks Shopping Village and the village of Street. The museum of course has the obligatory gift shop, and has a very good light bite cafe ( nicer and less expensive than the cafes in the shopping village). The admission charge allows for free return visits during the following year. A free 4 hour parking permit is available at the front desk when you show an online booking on your phone. Advance online booking offers a saving on the admission price at the door. If you do pay for your car parking it is currently £3.50 for 5 hours.

I visited on an architectural tour. The architectecture is beautiful and I really recommend a visit just to enjoy the building. As a museum, it is relatively small, and would suit older children or adults interested in Clarks and shoemaking. For younger kids I think it wouldn't be large/ interactive enough, although there are exhibits they can engage with and there are fossils in the adjoining building. There's a restaurant and small gift shop, and it's next to the shops and restaurants of Clarks village, so a convenient location.

This is a fabulous museum, which I can definitely recommend visiting. The dinosaur exhibition is definitely one that I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed as I actually got to speak to palaeontologist (Ryan) who volunteers his time to the museum. He made the explanations of life back 190 million years ago very easy to understand. Clark ‘s shoes museum is fantastic and very well laid out. Highly recommended.
