We love Sledmere house. The new play ground and farm area is free and is a great place for a family picnic. The kids can play for hours, and it’s super safe and enclosed. Their spring events with the lamb cuddling is one of the best in the area, you are not rushed along and you can cuddle the lambs for as long as you want. They fall asleep in your arms. The walled garden is one of the best gardens in the area, it’s so well cared for. It gives you so much inspiration. The cafe has lovely food, although it can be busy. But we’ve never waited too long for a table. The kids love the trails and playing hide and seek in the grounds and rolling down the hill. The staff are always lovely and helpful. They are doing a great job whilst all the changes to the site are happening.

A beautiful place! The sunshine made it feel extra peaceful :) Visited on Wednesday to enjoy somewhere in the sunshine for my birthday. I was thrilled it was not only dog friendly but disabled friendly too, meaning we could all enjoy the day together. The lady on the ticket desk was so helpful lending us a wheelchair for my 95year old grandma, and we could access all gardens etc easily with the flat paths. She explained the areas we could visit and gave us a helpful map, a real ray of sunshine she was! We all enjoyed looking around the place, the plants and deer were beautiful. The cafe was dog friendly too, so we all enjoyed some yummy sandwiches in the little courtyard bit. I'd recommend their tuna sandwich- it was delicious. Would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area, it's so worth it. I left feeling so relaxed and enjoyed spending my birthday there.

Lovely country house situated in the Yorkshire Wolds. Due to visiting in October did not go into the house itself, as it is closed to visitors between October and March. However there is still plenty to see and do. The walled garden is a pleasant sheltered walk. The large gardens and deer area offer a very nice walk that is approximately 3 miles long for those who wish to go a bit further. The property also has a rare breeds farm and adventure playground, ideal for those with children. Scored 4 out of 5 due to the website not being very clear on if the house was open or not.

What a beautiful day to visit the gardens! Mother Nature has provided a wonderful show of beauty with all the plants displaying their best features! It was peaceful to watch the flowers in bloom and dancing to the light summer wind! There’s plenty of seats to perch and appreciate what this season brings! The landscaping has been expertly designed to create amazement and excitement at each turn. I don’t know why I haven’t had a visit before, but I will definitely return and visit again in another season!!
