I went for a wander through Smallbrook Meadows the other afternoon, and it’s honestly such a lovely, quiet escape right on the edge of town. It has that wonderful, slightly wild feel to it where you can follow the boardwalks through the marshy areas and feel completely tucked away in nature. I was really impressed by how much wildlife is packed into the space—I spent ages just watching the dragonflies zip over the water and listening to the birds in the reeds. It’s the kind of place that feels different every time you visit depending on the season, and because the paths are so well-maintained, it’s an easy, relaxing walk even if the ground is a bit damp. It’s a perfect little sanctuary for a bit of fresh air and headspace.

Lovely quiet walk. (Watch out for wet dogs off their leads though!). You may be rewarded with sights of heron, egret, kingfisher, trout, Miller's Thumb etc ... and in tributaries the American Crayfish which is slowly denuding them if life!
