Snelsmore Common Country Park is a hidden gem, just a 4-minute drive from Newbury Services. It’s a fantastic place for families, friends, and small get-togethers, with plenty of open space to relax and enjoy nature. There is ample parking, a lovely café for refreshments, and even a special treat for your four-legged friends, making it a great destination for dog owners too. Parking is free, although a minimum donation of £1.50 is encouraged to help maintain this beautiful park. It’s well worth a visit if you’re looking for a peaceful day out surrounded by nature. Highly recommended!

Snelsmore Common is a lovely place for a peaceful walk, offering a great mix of woodland and open heathland that makes every visit feel a bit different. It’s ideal for dog walking or just getting out into nature, with plenty of space to explore and enjoy the quiet surroundings. The area feels calm and unspoilt, and on a good day it’s perfect for a relaxing stroll while taking in the scenery and wildlife. Parking is easy and access is straightforward, which makes it a convenient spot to visit. It can get quite muddy in places and the paths aren’t always the clearest, but that’s part of its natural charm. Overall, a really enjoyable place to unwind — not overly busy, just simple, scenic, and well worth a visit.

A nice place to visit for a walk, run by the regional wildlife trust and surrounded by lovely countryside. Dog friendly. Plenty of free parking. Well marked and undemanding circular routes and plenty of options for exploring away from the laid out paths. Having a cafe on site is a welcome asset. Free to enter and requesting a donation is not unreasonable. Was pretty wet when we went, but then it has been raining for a long many days.

An enjoyable late spring jaunt around the well maintained footpaths of the Snelsmore Common Country Park. Visited both Saturday and Sunday just after 8 pm. You do have to park in the front car park near the toilets as the main car park gets locked at 8 pm. You could tell that the daytime had been busy as the bins were overflowing, but at this time of the evening, there was hardly anyone here. There are plenty of routes to take that are easygoing, flat, and leisurely. The outer route path is especially good for dogs. You can find loops of 2 to 3 km easily completed within about an hour without rushing.
