Tourist here, and this particular experience was the main event for our traveling to north Wales. I purchased ahead and got a lovely basket with fruit scones and clotted cream, with tickets for drinks that could be redeemed down below, or in the cafe at the summit - I foolishly thought the summit would be a great spot to enjoy the drinks and scones with my wife. Do not make this mistake. My wife was fine and lovely and the scones were as well, but the summit cafe is a cramped mess and a thoroughly rushed experience. We began with a cute theater with a set of videos detailing how the railway was initially built - fascinating history, but bespoiled by the use of AI to unnecessarily animate old photographs, instead of 1) hiring animators, 2) hiring actors in costume, or 3) not doing that and just showing photos in the historical contexts. The use of AI cheapens the work done over the years to put Snowdon Mountain Railway together. The main issue with the video, however, is that it then proceeds to show the summit, both the peak and the cafe, either with relatively few people or entirely empty, setting the expectation of a mostly solitary experience with the people you're riding with. The train ride itself, no complaints. Our driver was chatty and informative, the weather was cloudy but we did get to see lovely scenery both up and down. However, arrival at the summit is met with announcements that in 25 minutes the train horn will go off indicating you must return soon, or face walking down for two-plus hours. We then disembarked to a completely packed cafe with hikers all around using every available table and seat. They have no incentive to leave and are under no time constraints, so, my wife and I got our drinks and stood near a window while I held the box of snacks, as there was nowhere whatsoever to sit or even set the box down to open it. This feels like a major oversight - if you want the experience to feel special enough for a premium, then for gods sake set aside some tables for the train riders who might want them for just a few minutes! We took the box home and fridged it for breakfast the next day. It won't go to waste but what a sour experience left in our mouths. What good is a summit cafe with no seating, or barely room to stand, I ask you? The gift shop at the base was lovely. Also free to enter, ha

Wonderful railway celebrating 130 years of operations. Takes about an hour each way and get 30mins at the top. You can just travel one way if you want to go up or down Snowdon and train it the other direction. There is a café, shop, seats and best of all a penny press at the station

Definitely worth a visit breathtaking views to be had lovely train ride to and from the summit there is a cafes gift shops at both points toilets too it is advisable to book in advance as it is very popular with everyone to make sure you get a seat on the train you normally get just over half an hour at the summit its the case of either going to the summit or the cafe as it gets busy on the summit sensible footwear too as it has uneven places and a cost can get windy too.

The day I visited was a mixed bag of sunshine, grey sky and wind, but luckily the train did manage to make it to the top of the mountain, only to find we were in the clouds with no view. It was disappointing but that is the British weather for you. The cloud made the experience feel a bit eerie, and not being able to see anything over the sides was scary with the strong wind. I decided not to go up to the very summit, call me chicken, but it was too scary for me. I got up a few of the steps and that was it. The scenery coming up and going down and the experience of being on the train was well worth the trip though. And the sun did finally come out. Our driver was very friendly and knowledgeable, pointing out landmarks as we went along and sharing local stories. Gift shop and places to eat, clean toilets all available on site

You MUST visit the snowdon mountain atleast one time if possible. It is an amazing experience. The staff are amazing, the entire experience from start to end was good. One hour train ride to the top of the mountain. Really really cold and windy at the top. Extremely windy and windy cold ❄️. Dressing warm is paramount. Getting to the top is worth it in every way. I had a blast.
