Beautiful historical Park in South Tyneside. Whether it's playing in one of the 3 playgrounds, having a picnic in the gardens, lostening to bands playing in the bandstand, sitting by the lake watching the people in the boats whilst having an ice cream and a coffee or riding on the steam train around the outskirts of the park. There is plenty to do for all ages. Public toilets available, which are relatively clean and are cleaned often. It is lovely place to be and is a lovely contrast to the very busy and active Ocean Beach Pleasure Park. I have come here since a little boy and it has been so well maintained over the years, now my children enjoy it and hopefully, so will theirs.
The park is very nice , seemingly a great place for families, however BEWARE OF RATS. This is the second time recently I have visited with my grandkids and we have seen rats both times . Three rats spotted today , one very close to the picknick tables where we were eating . To say this is a health risk issue is putting it mildly .
South Marine Park is a lovely Victorian Park. It's has a very nice lake with lots of ducks and geese plus a mini steam train that you can pay to go around the lake on. There is a large Minchella cafe and a children's play area. At the top end of the park you have a large grassed area where you can relax and watch the world go by and a lovely Victorian band stand which probably could do with a bit of a refurbishment. The park is situated off the main beach road opposite the fun fair and amusement arcades. Overall the local authority do a very good job keeping the park and beach front areas well maintained and clean.
Gorgeous park, was really nice to see all the wildlife and plants around the area. Sadly the train wasn't running when we came but would love to go back sometime.
Always a loverly place to visit. Nice play area for the kids a real miniture steam train you can enjoy a ride around the park. You can hire boats to go on the lake in the nicer days. Buy food to feed the birds. Minchellos cafe where you can buy savory and sweet food. A seperate toilet block with wheelchair access. And just across the road from the amusements and rides and a short walk tona well kept beach
