Beautiful views of Oxford city :) the bus will get you to the area within 5 mins, otherwise a 15-20 min walk or so from high street. Came here in the morning just to take in the atmosphere. (It was a cloudy day)

South Park is one of Oxford’s largest green spaces and a place where the city truly breathes. Spread across rolling lawns on Headington Hill, it offers sweeping views back towards the Oxford skyline—one of the few places where you can see the famous “dreaming spires” rising above the trees. On a clear evening, the view of the towers glowing in the sunset is unforgettable. Historically, the land was once part of Headington Manor estate, later transformed into public parkland in the 20th century. Today, South Park is not just a recreational field but also a cultural venue. It has hosted major events such as Radiohead’s legendary homecoming concert in 2001, food festivals, community fairs, and open-air performances. This blend of everyday calm and occasional festivity gives it a unique character. On a normal day, the park is wide and open, perfect for walking, jogging, or simply lying on the grass. Families come with children, students gather for picnics, and dog walkers trace the many paths that cross the slope. In spring the trees bloom, in summer the park feels alive with gatherings, in autumn the colours turn golden, and in winter the frost makes it crisp and quiet. Unlike the hidden solitude of Port Meadow or Lye Valley, South Park is more of a social space. It’s where you see Oxford’s residents enjoying ordinary life, but with the bonus of an extraordinary view. Bring a blanket, some food, and if you’re lucky with the weather, it may become one of your favourite spots in the city.

One of the best open spaces in Oxford with breathtaking panoramic views of the city skyline especially beautiful during sunrise and sunset. Great for walks, picnics, and drone shots. There’s plenty of space for events and sports too. Perfect spot to relax or photograph the dreaming spires from a distance. Just a short walk from Cowley Road and Magdalen Bridge. 🅿️ Limited parking nearby 🚲 Best reached by bike or on foot 📸 Must-visit for photographers!

Large unmanned park mainly consisting of rugged grass mounds and a few old trees. A popular haunt for students and families at the weekend. Plus points: a small kids playground with a large zipwire outside it. Lots of random adult outdoor gym equipment including bikes, treadmill, thigh builder, monkey bars and other randoms.
