What a fantastic museum this is! Latest visit which took an hour or so. Lots of air raft and cockpits to see. Even though they are close together most can be photographed easily. The staff are also really helpful and friendly and if they didn't know something they found out quickly from someone else. Only £8.50 entrance and there plenty to look at and explore, lots of out buildings with displays and exhibitions e.g the Sheffield blitz, The Falklands conflict to name just two. Definitely worth a visit especially if you love aircraft. Lots of safe, free parking.
Fabulous insight into aircraft history lots of both world wars and Falklands. Great for kids interested in aircraft with several cockpits to climb into. My 8 yr old grandson loved it. We spent nearly 3 hours walking round but could quite easily take longer. Good value for what there is. Staff friendly and helpful.
Me and my mom visited the museum for the first time today. Looking at it from maps it doesn't look thar big but it has a lot of things to see. Some of the buildings look small but when you walk in there are many rooms in different directions. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, there is no cafe as such but you can buy hot and cold drinks as well as snacks. There is plenty of seating around the museum. I would recommend this museum to anyone and will be happy to go back again in the future.
I love aviation and this has a lot of history on an historic site. The lady in the shop was very nice and helpful and showed so much passion for the place. My kids loved the open cockpit where they could sit in them and press buttons and pretend they are flying. There is so much to see and read about you can spend hours here. There is disabled parking and the majority of the site is pushchair and wheelchair friendly. There are plenty of seats around the site and in the hangers, so people with mobility issues can take a rest when needed and there are some disabled parking bays too x
What a lovely gem of a place, be even better in summer as it was very cold in the buildings. Lots of great history to read, view and experience and there are so many planes, helicopters and other aviation exhibits, too many to count! Lots of warehouse size areas inside and out, and you can even get into some of the cockpits when available. There are many buildings so make sure you find and see them all. Seems pretty wheelchair friendly too. Small gift shop and indoor area to eat a packed lunch etc...would have given 5 star if there was a cafe but sadly there isn't. Free parking onsite. Satnav directions were a little off but it is signposted as you get near the area. Staff and friendly, knowledgeable, although don't think they offer guided tours as such. Kids liked it a lot, as did our elderly relatives. Wide range of aircraft of all types, some restored, some in process of restoration and some as is....like the ones shown that are crash landings from the war etc. Would definitely Recommend.
