Fab! Very accessible for kids. You park your car on the street and walk 1 minute to the shoreline. Amazing? Absolutely! It’s so good for kids! Parking is very easy via the ringo app and is decent, £12 for 6 hours. Spaces get taken so easily when there’s a heatwave. I went on a Tuesday and it was fairly busy I can’t imagine the weekends, it would be packed! Pebbles but have some sand, good footwear is needed. Also sunshades are important too as the sun is right above you during midday and it gets super hot.

Long stoney beach with pay for parking. A café , and takeaways which are reasonable. Normal pier with amusements. Pitch n putt golf near by. Great on a hot day with views of the isle of wight .

Must-visit beach near Portsmouth — absolutely unreal and beautiful. Easy parking right next to the beach, great spots for BBQs, and even peaceful places to sleep by the sea in a motorhome or tent. The atmosphere feels almost interstellar at sunset. Amazing local seaside cafés and coffee shops nearby too, so you support the local community while enjoying the coast. Perfect for a relaxing family trip

A flint gravel beach with some sand extending from Henry 8ths castle Eastwards to Fort Cumberland at Eastney this seafront offers a long walk for all the family with a rose garden, boating pond and Royal Marine Memorial Garden at Eastney. A funfair on South Parade Pier with coffee stops and restaurants if you need a break. Parking is available as are busses and the famous Hoverport for those eying the Isle of Wight over the Solent. A busy or relaxing day for all age groups and backgrounds. You can park along the length of this beach which can be quite expensive. There is time limited free parking spaces one road back from the beach if you get here early. Toilets are available along the length of this walk and plenty to keep children amused and wanting to keep walking. There are buses for those with tired legs from the Hayling Island Ferry or South Parade Pier back to 'The Hard' by the bus station and Harbour train station. In Southsea there are a good range of restaurants and pubs for all pockets and tastes. The Beach is somewhere to spend time year round with weather adding to the views and challenges of the walk. Sign up for the Great South Run if you fancy seeing Portsmouth and Southsea seafront in a single outing. As of 2026 a huge build up of the beach gravel has been carried out raising it level with the pavement. Lots more space to walk on then a drop off to where the waves are beginning to sort the material by size and make an even slope. Lots of energy to spill when the waves are big. A new garden feature has been included in the new hard paved seafront promenade. (dare I say corniche?) Spring equinox low tide reveals all of the anti submarine defence again on a warm Spring day

Southsea was my home for a few years and I absolutely love each corner of the beach! A lovely seaside spot with wide open views and a relaxed atmosphere. Southsea Beach is perfect for a peaceful walk, fresh sea air, and beautiful sunsets along the coast.
