I heard such raving reviews about this pool so I was really excited about checking it out, however, what a massive disappointment this was. It truly feels a space designed for men or maybe women who visit with male partners, because the changing facilities are unisex and as a woman visiting solo, I felt hella creeped. Specifically, the entire dressing area was taken over by boisterous loud men, screaming, singing, whistling, just taking up so much space. Ofcourse everyone who recommended this pool to me is also a man so they may truly not see how odd it feels for women. Like where else will you see a dressing area that has no women doing their hair or makeup, just dudes in undies. The changing rooms are private cubicles but you spend so much time, wet, in towels, around random weirdo men, it made me uncomfortable. The ladies showers have two or three private cubicles and mostly jail style open showers. The cubicles do not have any place to keep your soap/shampoo. Finally the thing that bothered me most is they make you take your shoes off outside the swim changing rooms (fair enough, I get it and I came with my flip flops), however, most people are then using toilets and showers, barefoot!!!!!! Meanwhile their staff walks around in shoes. Make it make sense from a hygiene pov! The pool itself felt clean, no chlorine smell, but if I was going to pay for a membership, I expect a place where I can atleast hang my shampoo or have the spinny machine to dry my swimsuit atleast. The one positive is that the staff were lovely!

The gym facilities aren’t too bad, although the ‘new’ equipment is looking very aged now and out of order more frequently. The customer service however is beyond bad, with zero knowledge of processes, pricing and a complete lack of management. The staff in the actual gym are as effective as an inflatable dartboard, with people constantly working out in walkways and fire exits without being moved on, students using the benches to lie on whilst on social media and hogging the equipment in groups - all ignored by the staff who instead insist on harassing a father who’s training responsibly with his son…I’ve just cancelled my membership as each time I try to take my son with me, there seems to be an issue. Dependent on who’s on duty depends on what you get charged and if you’re let in. Avoid this absolute joke of a facility if you’re serious about training.

Price gone up but quality stays low. Half the lockers in womens don't lock, front doors to the centre aren't automatic or one side is locked most of the time which is weird. Continuous system glitches so the gates don't work somtimes, cleaning staff have a werid attitude on them, floor of the gym is gross (especially at the mats) and I am not convinced it's mopped daily which I think it should as a cleaner myself, one of the toilets in the woman's has been broken for months now, and some gym equipment stays out of action for months at a time. Price has gone up because of minimum wage increase, nothing else. Reception and café staff are friendly though 💛 In short, cleaning team and maintenance needs a revamp STAT

The gym itself is actually great and the facilities are good. But the management and organization are extremely poor. Today (Saturday at 12:00 PM) the entire locker room was closed for cleaning. The notice only said that the showers would not be working, but it did NOT say that the whole locker room would be closed and that members would not be able to access their lockers to get their belongings. Because of this, people were not allowed to enter the locker room even just to take their personal items. That is unacceptable. This kind of cleaning should be done late in the evening after closing hours, not in the middle of the day on a Saturday when the gym is busy. Another constant issue is the bracelet/key system. It often does not work properly, which shows again how poorly things are managed. The gym itself is good, but unfortunately it is run by lazy and unprofessional staff. This kind of management is embarrassing.

Disappointed at how poorly thought out this is by Exeter Council. First of all, almost zero consideration has been given to families who need to park. It's a two hour minimum at £4.90, just to take my daughter to a 30 min swimming lesson! Furthermore, the actual pool entry is ridiculous. There can be 40+ users and yet the shoe/bag area has space for about 3 stick insects! It is chaos almost every time we are there, with mess everywhere and me having to sit on the floor and scrum with other parents to get my kid ready. The helpful staff are the redeeming feature, but frankly if you are spending millions of our money, I expect much better planning. Poor.
