We recently visited the National Fairground Museum and had the pleasure of meeting Craig, the General Manager. He was incredibly accommodating and went out of his way to show us around the fantastic Moon Rocket ride, which was once owned by my grandad. This was a very emotional and special visit for myself and my family, and Craig's kindness made it even more memorable. He took the time to show my son everything about the ride, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm, which made the experience truly unforgettable. Craig is a credit to the museum and an outstanding General Manager – a genuinely great guy who clearly cares about both the history of the rides and the visitors who come to see them. He helped create a day full of wonderful memories for our family, one that we will treasure for years to come. Thank you, Craig, for your time, care, and kindness.

Absolutely lovely place to stop at. Museum was good. Do take a look at the area housing old fairground rides and slot machines as it brings back memories for those of us who are old enough to remember them. There is a sweet shop and it sells some great little things for the kids too. There is a cafe and a big connect 4 for people to have a go on. The 2 trains are good to go on and the staff were so very helpful and friendly and happy to assist where necessary. A great day out.

This was a superb museum to visit during a Friday when tickets are £5 per person, showcasing steam and diesel trains from throughout the 1900s! These were constructed in locations varying from up North in Leeds to down South in Surrey and there is even a train from the American railroad here, liveries come in different shades of brightness and locomotives go from normal to small gauge one here is even from a light railway! Stories of the usage are really interesting covering the likes of sugar plantations in African countries, quarries and a section specifically for ones used in the 1st World War to transport to areas like the trenches. One steam engine cab is open to walk on and other trains have the boiler units exposed to look at, different traction units like the Go-Go tractor used at Chesterfield brickworks are unique and Scootcar is a worthy addition too! Parlor car is a fancy carriage and image of trains in the land settings of their time is pretty, signage being kept here is insightful as to the message on the railways. Himalayan railway history is a noteworthy spot and there is info about Brunel's Atmospheric Railway discussing what inspired this, alongside it first running in Devon and a model of the line. Medium-scale models of trains are on the side upstairs and the model railways are interactive to be controlled by visitors which was a lot of fun, the ones that are illustrations of books are cutesy and other models in a section of small ones depict different times of railway history!

A wonderful experience for all ages. A large railway museum. Plenty of places to eat. Two guage railways with knowlegable staff who made the trips interesting and fun for the children. The ten minute stop enabled us to fo the woodland walk before rejoining the train. Fun for all in the funfair museum with rides that took me back to my childhood. We visited the day before Good Friday, during school holidays and we didnt have to queue for any of the rides. A play barm for the little ones and an Easter trail. All aboard for a lovely nostalgic day out.

Visited for the santa Christmas express special with our 7 year old . Priced at £30 ish each. My intial thought was that it was a bit pricey. But I have to say it was very good. Centered around a train ride(7mins ish)(statfold barn railway) , to the north pole, delivering the letter you write (on site) to santas postbox in the village . The whole event was well organised. The village(north pole) is well laid out with bits to do. Gingerbread decorating, raindeer food to make, a few rides all included, Staff were all fab. We were looking at going to Severn Valley. Somewhere I had taken my older children in years gone by. But on checking what u get at Severn valley now. (no individual visit to santa, group viewing) and report from someone else that Severn Valley wasn't as good as it used to be. We decided to go to statfold. I would Def recomend statfold. And would Def go again. Statfold has other thing on site to offer aswell. Fair ride museum, play areas etc. Parking is free.
