Knowledgable, friendly volunteers, fascinating artefacts, great milling demos, a peaceful nature reserve, and a lovely tearoom!
Lovely old watermill which has been renewed in an excellent and kind way since a major fire. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Voluntary donations welcome. Small cafe on one floor with good range of items and fair prices. There is a lift to all floors which was installed in the repair/renovation so its disabled friendly. Well worth a visit especially for children as they can learn a lot.
Visited for the steam rally, had a good day out wandering around the stalls and exhibits good varied number of side stalls and a great old fashioned steam fairground. There were a few classic and vintage cars could do with a few more and a big arena where we sat and watched a number of shows from sheep dogs to stunt bikes and buggys. About the only negative was the way overpriced ice-cream van, who didn't advertise his prices, it was £4.50 for a tiny 99 was outrageous no wonder he had virtually no queue all day. There was loads of well organised parking. Tickets were a little slow would recommend getting them online before your visit.
It was such a beautiful, calm walk. I really enjoyed that dogs must be on leads – it made me feel safer with my dog around. The scenery was simply delightful, and I’ll definitely be returning with my new pup to explore the smells and sights.
The mill is a great and really interesting place to visit. There are knowledgeable volunteers that really bring it to life and loved seeing how the milling process worked. Delicious cakes in the tea room. The nature reserve is beautiful too.
