Lovely old flour mill in pretty countryside location on a public footpath close to Sturminster Newton. We were shown around by a very knowledgeable guy. They mill flour once a month which is for sale along with a small selection of other gifts. There's a lovely area outside, with views across the river to the fields beyond, where you can enjoy your tea, coffee, biscuits, etc., available to buy from the tiny gift shop area. A lovely rustic place full of the history of milling. There's a very small car park with public toilets available.

This is such a beautiful place with some fascinating history. We highly recommend taking the tour which is thorough and highly enjoyable; and also takes fully up into and around the mill. There was also clear local pride for the area and work of the mill, which if I remember correctly is the last functioning water mill in that part of Dorset. We had no issues parking but can imagine it getting busy if more than 10-12 cars come through. There is a public toilet nearby too which is handy. We left having also bought some of the milled wholemeal flour.

This is a nice little spot to have a picnic and walk the dogs as there’s a large field opposite which many dog walkers where enjoying. I didn’t go inside as I think they we’re getting it ready for opening after a long winter but i had a stroll around and it was just nice to hear the water and walk along the river. There’s parking and public toilets on site so that’s a win and I would advise you buy a ticket and have a look around if possible otherwise places like this are lost forever.

Such a beautiful place, water is very relaxing. Nice bit of British history. Great to walk the dogs 🐕

The mill appeared to be closed for the winter, but there is a car park and open public toilets next door. There is a nice walk along the river, too.
