Explore the ancestral home of George Washington's family, a beautifully preserved Tudor manor house with gardens and exhibitions spanning centuries of Anglo-American history.

Sulgrave Manor is a historic Tudor house located in Northamptonshire, built by the ancestors of George Washington. The venue has been meticulously preserved and restored thanks to generous support from donors in both the UK and USA, making it a unique symbol of Anglo-American heritage and collaboration. Visitors can explore the house through timed tickets available Sunday to Tuesday weekly, discovering period rooms and authentic furnishings that tell the story of the Washington family and their times. The manor features a dedicated exhibition titled "George Washington - Relics and Representations," part of the America250UK programme, which brings to life the history and significance of the first US President and his family connections. The grounds include beautiful gardens where families can enjoy outdoor spaces while learning about the property's historical significance. The venue is pushchair-friendly and offers both indoor and outdoor amenities, making it suitable for families with young children. School visits and group visits are available by arrangement, and the manor regularly hosts special events and activities throughout the year.

A very interesting visit to George Washington's ancestral home. The room guides had excellent knowledge and their talks were very interesting. The house and garden had a certain peace and calmness about them. Well worth a visit

Did enjoy our visit to the home of George Washington's ancestors. Cheap entry price, and interesting talks. Only downside was the Cafe was closed. Although cakes and teas/coffees were available from reception. The staff were very helpful.

A great little place to visit in Sulgrave. Once the home George Washington"s family. If you are interested there is also the remains of a castle in the village.

A nice place to familiarize yourself with the history of the Washington family and their background. Lovingly furnished house and museum, also educationally valuable for children. Fantastic friendly and helpful staff who are happy to provide information about the house and its exhibits if you have any questions. Reasonable price-performance ratio. Thank you.😀👍
