Located free on road parking on Crescent wood road. A gate leads to the southern end of Sydenham Hill Wood. Echoes of the railway line remain such as an old tunnel (it is closed off to the public. There is a toilet at that location. The remains of an old folly can be found also which is a great historic feature. The Woodland Trust have done a great job keeping the woodland, clean, litter free with well kept paths. Beautiful woodland to explore.

Beautiful linear space in London from an old railway line. Teeming with all manner of wildlife from squirrels, foxes and yes, rats to a colony of wild Parakeets!

It used to be lovely but now they ruined it by adding new gravel paths and making the woods ‘tidy’ for runners and parents with prams. It has lost in character and tranquility, if you want screaming children and helicopter parents dressed in white hoping the woods are not ‘too muddy’, this is your place. For us looking for quiet spots to walk the dog this is another loss, like it happened with Horniman and Dulwich Park.

A delightful and pleasant stroll through the woods away from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life. The entire woodland was at one point in danger of being taken into the dreaded hands of redevelopment until London Wildlife Trust stepped in and thus, the woodland has been allowed to thrive and flourish once more - and long may it continue. As mentioned, it's a delightful bit of greenery that makes for a lovely day out for the entire family and there are many information markers detailing the history of the woodland which certainly makes for fascinating reading. You could probably cover the entire length of the place in a couple of hours or even less but even just to pause and take in the sensorial delights of the bird songs all around you is worth many moments to pause and take breath. Definitely worth a trawl if you want to escape the hectic mayhem of the city and lose yourself in the arms of nature.

Absolutely amazing woodlands that just gets you back into nature lots of trails and exploring opportunities for your little ones. Sadly there are no picnic benches and no public toilets but if you don't mind having a picnic either on the floor or on a old fallen tree then you will love the Woods. There are plenty of homemade dens and or shelters to find or create yourself plus there is a old folly to find and read about.
