A good selection of walk aimed at different mobility levels. The views are breathtaking and certainly worth any of the walks. The parking is not particularly cheap but there a clean and tidy facilities so don't mind paying a little extra for parking. The cafe has a great selection of refreshments and are generous with the Ice cream servings, the price is as expected for the type of place it is. Great for dogs and will be returning again.

Symonds Yat Rock — where the Wye river bends, the forest stretches endlessly, and time seems to slow with every breath. Some places don’t need filters or captions; they simply remind you how small you are in the best possible way. Standing above the Wye Valley, camera in hand, watching the light move across the trees… pure peace. Wales, the borders and you are quietly stealing my heart.

I spent a full day at Symonds Yat Rock with a group of friends, and what stands out is not just the view, but how layered the whole environment feels once you stay long enough to absorb it. The forest is dense without feeling closed in, with winding paths that constantly shift perspective, while the River Wye moves quietly below, adding a steady, almost grounding presence to the entire landscape. The viewpoint itself is impressive, but what makes it memorable is how the surrounding woodland, cliffs, and river all interact it never feels static. We spent hours walking, stopping, and just sitting without feeling the need to rush anywhere, which is probably the strongest indicator of how comfortable and balanced the atmosphere is. It’s the kind of place that works equally well for long walks, quiet conversations, or simply doing nothing and letting the environment carry the experience. If you’re expecting just a quick scenic stop, you’re underestimating it — this is a place that rewards time and attention.

Lovely walk with great views. Different routes to choose from- some are hilly. Toilets and coffee hut (with amazing ice-cream!) next to carpark. Picnic benches next to carpark. Will visit again.

Fantastic views from the main viewpoint near the car park on the sunny day I was there. I walked down to the riverside which is very steep and a hard walk back up again. The route down and back up has been diverted but is still passable for anyone with reasonable fitness and there are a couple of benches on the route if you need a break. I continued along the river to Bilbins Bridge and then left over the bridge to visit King Arthur's Cave which is about 1/2 mile from the bridge up to the right along the Highmeadow Trail. On my return I stayed on the same side to walk to the ferry crossing ( about 20-25mins from the bridge) which wasn't operating so I returned back to Bilbins Bridge and crossed back over. I was fortunate to see some members of the local fire service practicing a river rescue at the rapids as well !
