We went to visit the Hell Lane & Shutes Lane to see the carvings which looked really interesting in the brochure. We were given a map which was pretty useless and unclear..... and for an such a unique sight, very disappointing. There were no signposts so we had to keep asking the locals where they were. We eventually had to back track from the fields and find an alternative route. We thoroughly enjoyed it when we finally found it but on such a hot day we wasted so much time trying to find it.....come on Symondsbury Estate....update the map to one that is clear and precise and put some signage up !

Saw this on Google and decided we had to visit. Had a wonderful browse around the shops - gorgeous locally crafted goodies for the most part! Early spring and the walk up Shute's Lane was muddy but so very worth it. Just fascinating and will definitely be going back. Walked to the end of the lane and then came back down via another track - not quite as muddy. Saw the sea and a seagull having a fabulous field day - literally!! Saw multiple fields of radishes too!! Ended the day with coffee and tea with yummy cakes - perfect in every way!!

Great base for walking up to Colmers Hill. You can park your free of charge in the large car park! Attractive shops selling a variety of things, there is a cafe and a restaurant. Very pleasant surroundings, you can see Colmers Hill from your seat. Lovely group of thatched buildings.

We went to see shute and he'll lane, some of the older carvings are great but a lot are from people who have visited the hollaways. The cafe serve very good food and drink. Staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of free parking and no waiting when we visited.

A wonderful day out at the Symondsbury Estate!! Straightforward to get to and follow the brown road signs and not the satnav, although the drive in from the main road is a bumpy one, full of potholes so be aware!! Started with a cuppa before we launched ourselves on the walks, tackling the sunken lanes and Colmer Hill on a beautiful bright sunny early Spring day 🌞 Booked table for lunch, as recommended to by the excellent waiting staff and just aswell as it was busy when we returned from our walks for our lunch. Although we were late, our table was available and we enjoyed a delicious lunch 😋 All round, a lovely day out!!
