Meet farm animals like llamas, goats, and ducks while exploring scenic riverside walks in this Green Flag Award-winning country park in the Vale of Llangollen.

Tŷ Mawr Country Park sits on the banks of the River Dee in the Vale of Llangollen, nestled beneath the historic Cefn Viaduct within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This award-winning park has held Green Flag accreditation since 2006, offering families a welcoming natural escape with diverse activities. Visitors can interact with a variety of farm animals including sheep, pigs, goats, and the park's famous llamas Carlos and Pedro who guard the flock from foxes. Families can feed free-range chickens and ducks, and there's even an animal sponsorship scheme allowing visitors to support specific animals year-round and meet them at special sponsor days. The park features accessible walking trails suitable for all ages and abilities, including the easy 1-mile Tŷ Mawr Trail with tarmac paths, and the more challenging 4-mile viaduct-aqueduct walk offering spectacular views. Additional facilities include a play area, BMX track, trim trail, visitor centre with Linden's Coffee Barn for refreshments, accessible toilets with baby changing facilities, and ample car parking. The chemical-free land management creates vibrant summer hay meadows and supports diverse wildlife and wild plants. Dogs are welcome on leads, and the park is suitable for coach parties and visitors of all ages from birth onwards.

Lots of beautiful low level river walks and higher ground walks to explore! I can see that there may be access path’s for wheelchair users but as an inexperienced wheelchair user I can’t mention that it is all wheelchair friendly. They have there own gift shop that sell and do arts and crafts and this is surrounded by their own miniature animal sanctuary. The sanctuary includes Goats, Ducks, Rabbits, Guinea pigs, Pigs & Chickens, my little one enjoyed this. Close by is a play park which is enclosed. Definitely a place of peace and nature for all including dog walkers.

Lovely walk with beautiful views a little hilly but nothing too strenuous. However, there is more adventures available within the country park. Very child friendly with animals to see, a lovely park, bike track and large football field. There is opportunity on the walk to go paddling with a small stoned area next to the river. Please note that the river can get very fierce when the weather has been bad. The whole of the simple walking route is pushchair and wheelchair friendly. There is a cafe there, but wouldn't rely on it being open all the time. Parking is a £1 for the whole day with over flow car parking available.
