A small free entry museum that has an interesting model fairground and a very detailed account of the battle of Tewkesbury with a very good model of the battlefield layout. Other items of local interest over three floors.

A charming place that perfectly captures the spirit and history of the town. Housed in a beautiful 17th-century building, the architecture has a cosy, old-world character that sets the tone for what you’ll find within. The museum offers a surprisingly rich collection for its size. The displays cover everything from the Battle of Tewkesbury and local crafts to everyday life in the town over the centuries. The exhibits are laid out in a simple but engaging way in different rooms. It’s a lovely stop if you enjoy local history, unique buildings, or just want to get a feel for Tewkesbury’s past. Also, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to share insights or answer questions. The entry is free of charge and donations are accepted.

The Ashmolean visit is becoming a distant memory. I no longer feel the need to compare this to that so I can report that I enjoyed visiting Tewkesbury museum. One thing which does bother me is the very offensive use of the 'C' word. I hear the 'C' word in a lot of places on my travels and it makes me cringe. After entering the museum the lady in attendance told me it was run by volunteers, and then she dropped the 'C' bomb. "We rely on........ contributions." I nodded and smiled 😃 in her direction then visited each room. I tried to hurriedly sneak out when I was done but I was no more than six feet past her desk, exit door in view, when she exclaimed "thank you", knowing full well that I hadn't put my hand in my pocket. Almost ruined my day!

Excellent free museum with good exhibitis on 3 floors. Donations welcome on exit, I gave £5 which I think was worth it. The mechanical fairground model is delightful.

A museum full of the history of Tewksbury. From prehistoric to modern times. The animatronic fairground is incredible, the effort put into it was mindblowing. That alone is worth a visit. Then upstairs is a room for the historic Battle of Tewksbury with a model of that battle. There are items to see in every nook and cranny so don’t skim the rooms. Very interesting place and a beautiful building in itself.
