Experience a safe, inclusive adventure playground with specialized equipment and therapeutic play activities designed for children and adults with additional needs and their families.

Thames Valley Adventure Playground is a unique charitable facility founded in 1979, located just outside Maidenhead. It provides a safe, caring, and stimulating environment where families and individuals can enjoy adventurous, therapeutic, and educational play activities together. The playground offers far more than traditional slides and swings—it features specialized equipment and appropriate resources tailored for children and adults with varied additional needs, alongside inclusive spaces for siblings, friends, and local community members. The venue is specifically designed as a judgment-free zone where visitors can be themselves without pressure to 'fit in.' It welcomes families seeking respite care, individuals, and groups including school visits. The playground offers multiple programs including community play sessions, respite breaks, adult sessions (17+), and special events throughout the year. With both indoor and outdoor facilities, the venue requires advance booking to ensure a safe and well-managed experience for all visitors. For many families and individuals with additional needs, TVAP serves as a vital lifeline—a rare opportunity to play together, make happy memories, and feel genuinely accepted. The charity operates with a voluntary Board of Trustees committed to supporting not only the child with additional needs but also their families and carers.

The only place I've found where I don't worry about my daughter's safety while she plays. A closed in and secure playground with loads of indoor and outdoor play experiences for children with special needs. Our fave thing is the zipline chair.

This is one of our favourite places ever. It has a fantastic range of things to do including soft play, indoor toys, music room, climbing frames, sand pit, mini golf, bikes/trikes, mud kitchen. Pretty much anything you could want!! And in a wonderfully supportive, non judgemental setting. As an added bonus, a beautiful view over the lake!
