We actually preferred Blandford Fashion Museum to the V&A! My daughter absolutely loved it. The chance to walk through fashion through the ages, dress up and get creative with her own designs made it so much more engaging for her. The museum is full of beautiful and fascinating pieces, and the Georgian setting makes the whole experience feel really special. A real little gem in Dorset and somewhere we’d definitely recommend for families with children who love fashion and being creative.
Fascinating collection of women's fashion from 1700 right up to 1990. Very welcoming staff and a lovely tea- room. Well worth a visit
a lovely museum that does its job exceptionally. made me love blandford even more.
A beautiful museum. The displays were of a high standard and a great variety. I particularly enjoyed the Laura Ashley display as it brought back happy memories of decorating my first flat. The only negative ( but it didn't distract me from my enjoyable visit) was the not so social staff in the tea room. They didn't smile, ask how we enjoyed the visit and ignored me as I tried to ask a question. A shame!
This is a gem of a museum in the heart of Georgian Blandford Forum. The collection of dress from the eighteenth century to 1990 is carefully and accessibly curated so that the visitor can get an insight in the history behind the garments selected for display. There is a very friendly and comfortable tea room to visit aftewards. Probably the most authentic Georgian style experience in this town.
