We make a point of visiting a cat café wherever we go so stopping by The Cat's Whiskers in York - a city seemingly enamored/obsessed with cats as it is - was a no-brainer. We got lucky as we hadn't booked and managed to pop in on a dime. But our slot wasn't busy at all: only 6 people in total. Which was great as it meant more cats for less people. The café maintains a pretty significant amount of felines, many of which were fostered by the café's staff and came in from dire circumstances. They appeared well kept and the café's space is well maintained and offers diverse toys and ways for the furry residents to entertain themselves. It's also pretty big, spanning two floors and plenty of seats for guests. At the time of our visit there were two kittens of the black variety in the café that we could have suggested names for (for a small extra fee to the price of entrance). Not to be dramatic or anything but I think us 6 witnessed something special when one of them figured out a toy with a ball. The wee fella couldn't stop keeping the ball rolling! That's not to take any spotlight away from the other cats. The day was very warm so no blaming anyone to be sleepy but some cats came out to play too! By the way, you can get coffee and pastries (it's a cat "café" after all), though given the temperatures we were content with water and soda. All in all it was a great experience, one I can't recommend enough to any cat lover who finds themselves in York and one I'd gladly repeat when I'm back in Yorkshire!

Such a lovely place, cat-centered! The cats are adorable and so well cared for. The food and food options are vast, all if which are well-made. It is very relaxing overall! They offer extended sessions for too! Perfect for university students

Absolutely love it! The cats are so sweet and each have their own personalities which is nice to see. The cats have their own access to private areas if they get stressed out which is lovely to see as you can tell they are well looked after. Food is delicious and well priced.Amazing environment that’s always welcoming and clean.Would recommend to anyone as it is my favorite cafe in York💕

Got to love a cat cafe! Well this one was great lots of cats, lots of toys, lots of cake, staff were great too! Probably one of the best I have been to staff were friendly and the cats more so running about and greeting everyone! The layout of the cafe was great with all the climbing areas for the cats so they could show their full potential and lots of toys so everyone could get a look in group size was just right so wasn’t crowded. Food and beverage offerings were good 👍 Ensure you book way ahead of time for your visit.

such an incredible experience at this cat cafe in york city centre. this was my first time at a cat cafe and i wasn’t left disappointed. it’s evident that the cats here are well looked after and the staff know the personalities and wants of each cat very well. a really lovely environment to be in and everybody seemed so friendly. my apple juice was really nice and thankfully left untouched by the cats! we bought a t-shirt and a magnet as we left 🐈
