Filey, United Kingdom•4.8(64)•Beaches

Enjoy miles of sandy shoreline perfect for families and dogs, with a peaceful, uncrowded coastal experience and convenient beach cafe access.

Hunmanby Beach offers a picturesque stretch of Yorkshire coastline ideal for families seeking a quieter beach experience. The expansive sandy shore reveals vast stretches when the tide recedes, providing ample space for children to explore, play, and build sandcastles away from crowded tourist hotspots. The beach is fully dog-friendly year-round, making it perfect for families with pets who want to enjoy seaside activities together. The beach features a charming cafe situated near the access path, offering refreshments for visitors before or after their beach day. Visitors should note the steep cliff access and be aware of tidal patterns, as high tide approaches the cliff edge. With limited parking available a short walk from the beach, it remains refreshingly unspoiled and peaceful compared to busier Yorkshire beaches. The natural, undeveloped setting makes it particularly appealing for families looking for a relaxing day by the sea without extensive commercial facilities, though nearby Bay Filey holiday resort provides additional amenities for those staying in the area.

Love this coastline. Beautiful beaches, clear water and never seems to get really packed. Only issue is it can be a bit inaccessible for people with mobility issues as there are steep inclines to reach it.

Excellent beach, that when the tide is out, goes on for miles. Dog friendly and sandy. Note, when the tide comes in it goes right to the cliff and can affect access to the paths. Very limited parking

Fantastic beach just off Bay Filey holiday resort. Wide open beach no real facilities, will need to go back to your resort. Check tide times as high tide is right into the edge of cliffs. Wonderful with no restrictions for dogs, so assumed all year round ok unlike Filey, Whitby & Scarborough. Those at holiday parks take their dogs and want to be able to use the beach, many of whom walk them early morning or early evening not affecting day time beach goers.

This is a lovely, small and clean sand beach that is dog friendly. The car park is 5 minutes walk away from the beach. Unlike other beaches that are very touristy with a lot of things going on, this is a very quiet beach with one cafe on the way to the beach, which is perfect for dogs.

Excellent beach for exercising dogs. Fairly steepish path going down (and up) especially if you are a little older but well worth visiting. Nice little cafe/patio near the top of the path for a welcome coffee/tea or snack. Car park near the top too March until end of October I think.
