Really interesting museum. Lovely staff. Our two children (5 and 3 years old) enjoyed doing brass rubbings, drawing and playing in the garden while we learnt about the history of the site.
Wonderful place with incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. I were even given the opportunity to see a trolleybus that is currently being restored, which made the visit even more special. The museum is full of fascinating history and is well worth exploring. I highly recommend visiting the Long Shop Museum if you're in the area!
I enjoyed my visit to this little museum and was amazed to discover the role this remote corner of Suffolk had in the industrial revolution. The staff and volunteers were helpful and well informed. We appeared to be the only visitors for duration of our time there.
I had no idea this former engineering works existed let alone based in Suffolk. Extremely interesting and informative especially when you walk round the main workshop. The amount of equiment/machinery Garretts produced during their existance is phenomonal. There are some puzzles to complete which will interest both adults and children during your walk round in the Long Shop. The museum has a picnic area with tables that have umbrellas you can raise should it start to rain. A small play area with limited equipment to amuse children is also in the picnic area. A truly fascinating history of this Company is revealed during your museum walkround.
Visited yesterday with my little dog. I've been before but there's always something different to see. Really enjoyed seeing the progress on the Garrett trolley bus, really interesting! I volunteers were really friendly and helpful all around the site. I had a lovely morning despite the rain! I will definitely visit again next year.
